Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals

The goal of the Advocacy Committee is to lobby and advocate on behalf of all CACs and LACs in Colorado and nationally.  We are engaged with lobbyists, sit in discussions with DORA, serve on committees as vast as OBH and Task Groups, and follow all legislation that could impact clinicians and organizations serving clients struggling with substance misuse and addictions.  This Committee is chaired by Thea Wessel.

The Conference and Events Committee plans and delivers key events during each year including an Annual Conference and content-rich Lunch and Learns.  This Committee has also reaached out to other professional organizations to partner with them in order to bring addiction-specific training to all behavioral health professionals.  This Committee is chaired by Mita Johnson.

The mission of the Membership Outreach Committee is to reach out to professionals and organizations providing services to clients struggling with substance misuse and addictive behavior disorders.  This committee is involved not only in recruitment but also retention efforts.  This Committee is chaired by Larry Wall.

The Recovery Month (annually every year in September) Committee seeks to advance discussion, celebration, awareness and education - in our communities - about substance misuse and addictive behaivor disorders and the continuum of care.  Recovery Month is sponsored by SAMHSA and NAADAC.  This Committee is chaired by Agnieszka Baklazec.

The mission of CAAP's Social Media Committee is to help CAAP effectively utilize social media and website tools to promote CAAP's resources and services as well as create a networking forum among interested professionals.  This Committee is chaired by Thea Wessel.
