The role of SACC in coordinating NCAC exams in Colorado is administrative only.
- The MAC exam is required for the Colorado Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).
- The NCAC II or MAC exam is required for reinstatement or core course waiver in CO.
- These exams are required for (NAADAC) the national NCAC certifications respectively and do not currently meet any Colorado DORA (CAC) certification or training requirements. Once someone receives Colorado certification then they can apply for NCAC national certification.
- Please direct all questions about Colorado Certified Addiction Counselor (CAC) or Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) to http://www.dora.state.co.us/mental-health or call DORA at 303-894-7766.
