So what happens after I complete and submit the application and payment?

  • Your online application submission is reviewed by the CAAP testing coordinator to ensure everything is completed correctly.  The testing coordinator will attempt to contact you via email and phone if there is a problem or question regarding your application.
  • The testing coordinator forwards all reviewed and approved applications to Professional Testing Corporation (PTC)in New York.
  • DO NOT APPLY FOR THE MAC EXAM IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A MASTER'S DEGREE ALREADY AWARDED IN A BEHAVIOR HEALTH SCIENCE (counseling, mental health, social work, marriage and family, psychology, psychiatric nursing).  Colorado state law requires that you have your Master's degree before testing.  If you sit for the test and do not have a Master's, DORA will require you to retest.
  • Once PTC reviews and approves the applications we submitted to them, they will send you an email confirmation voucher providing you with the phone number to call to set up the exact date and location of your test.
  • You will need to print the voucher and take that with you to the testing site. DORA and CAAP have no input regarding the test dates or locations selected.

Payment Methods:

  • Once you have completed the application you can print the application to mail the application to us with a check or you can pay online by credit card
  • All credit cards are accepted and the credit cards are processed by PayPal.  Credit card payments are processed quickly and do not hold up your application submission time. When you hit "submit" after you have entered your credit card information, the application itself has also been submitted to CAAP for processing.
  • Check, money order or cashier's check. (no cash) You must print a copy of the online application and attach your check made payable to: SACC
  • PTC and CAAP cannot issue refunds of fees or issue transfers of testing dates - for any reason!  Do not submit an application unless you are absolutely sure of which test you need to take and which testing window you can realistically sit for.

Applications for testing must be received by the deadline date posted above.

Do not apply for the MAC Exam if you do not have your behavioral health science Master's degree.

After you've taken the exam:

  1. PTC sends scores directly to each applicant, usually within 4 to 6 weeks after applicant sits for the exam.
  2. Applicants are responsible for keeping this information for their records.
  3. Applicants are responsible for providing their score verification as requested when submitting certification applications, etc.
  4. CAAP is not responsible for replacing your score verification form in the event it is misplaced or damaged.  If you have lost or damaged your score verification form - contact PTC.
