About Us

The Colorado Association of Addiction Professionals (formerly SACC) is an association of concerned professionals seeking to improve the quality of substance abuse and other addiction treatment services through education, training, and advocacy.

CAAP is open to all professionals and students who care about the addiction treatment field and its future. CAAP sponsors workshops and conferences, and advocates for quality treatment services provided by Addiction Counselors.

Founded in 1984 as Colorado Addictions Counselors, CAAP formally affiliated with the National Association of Addiction Counselors (NAADAC) in 1993. NAADAC (with more than 10,000 members) is the largest national organization of Addiction Counseling professionals. NAADAC’s prominent efforts include the development of a national credential for Addiction Counselors, education of the public on the need for treatment services, and development of a widely accepted code of ethics.

The affiliation of CAAP and NAADAC provides support for members seeking professional growth and opportunities to shape the future of the field.
